The Hidden Cause of Infant Anemias

The Hidden Cause of Infant Anemias

Posted By Dr. Mercola | November 29 2011 | 106 views

Research is showing that consumption of cow's milk has adverse effects on the iron stores of infants and toddlers. Several mechanisms may be contributing to the problem, including intestinal blood loss associated with cow's milk consumption during infancy -- a condition that affects about 40% of infants.

Yet another possible mechanism is the inhibition of non-heme iron absorption by calcium and casein, both of which are present in cow's milk in high amounts.

According to research reprinted on the website Green Med Info:

"Consumption of [cow's milk] produces a high renal solute load, which leads to a higher urine solute concentration than consumption of breast milk or formula, thereby narrowing the margin of safety during dehydrating events, such as diarrhea. The high protein intake from [cow's milk] may also place infants at increased risk of obesity in later childhood."

Why Are Medical Experts Routinely Paid Off By Drug Companies?

A new report has revealed that thousands of Texas doctors and medical experts, including more than 100 employed by the state itself, routinely supplement their salaries with money paid by drug companies.  Between 2009 and early 2011, more than 25,000 Texas doctors and researchers received a combined total of at least $57 million.

Dozens of medical professionals were paid more than $100,000 each.

The New York Times reports:

"... [T]he financial relationships raise questions about the influence of drug companies on prescribing patterns or research results.  ... [E]fforts at transparency vary widely depending on the institution, or may be nonexistent when there is no institution at all."

49 Sudden Deaths, 213 Permanent Disabilities - And the Silent Plan to Poison Your Child - GARDASIL VACCINE

Story at-a-glance

  • The HPV vaccine is NOT harmless like it is being promoted and has not been proven to actually prevent cervical cancer
  • The HPV vaccine only protects against TWO strains of HPV associated with cancer but there are MORE THAN 100 different strains of HPV in all.
  • Dr. Diane Harper, one of the lead researchers for Gardasil blew the whistle on the vaccine, saying the available data suggests the HPV vaccine's protective effects do not last beyond five years.
  • The VAERS database continues to swell with reports of autoimmune disorders contracted after receiving the HPV vaccine. These side effects now include 137 reports of cervical dysplasia, and 41 reports of cervical cancer.
  • HPV infection clears up on its own within two years in 90 percent of all cases. It rarely leads to cervical cancer unless the infection becomes chronic and leads to cervical changes that remain untreated. Routine pap smear testing can identify chronic HPV infection and may provide greater protection against development of cervical cancer than reliance on an HPV vaccine that has not been adequately proven to be safe or effective.

Why Risk Your Life to Prevent an Avoidable Disease?

Deadly blood clots, acute respiratory failure, cardiac arrest and "sudden death due to unknown causes" have all occurred in girls shortly after they've received the Gardasil vaccine. These are atrocious risks to potentially prevent cervical cancer one day down the road. Because let's not forget that the HPV vaccine has not yet been PROVEN to actually prevent any kind of cancer.

The benefit is just one big "maybe."

So, are the risks involved really acceptable, especially in light of these latest findings? With recombinant HPV DNA thrown into the mix, we now know even LESS about the long-term risks and benefits of this vaccine…

Of course, you need to do your own careful research, but I simply cannot recommend this vaccine.

There are far better ways to protect yourself and your young daughters against cervical cancer. According to the CDC more than 6 million women contract HPV annually, yet less than 3,900 women will die from cervical cancer out of those 6 million. This is because, in 90 percent of all cases, your immune system can clear up the HPV infection on its own. Furthermore, the infection is spread through sexual contact, so it is behaviorally avoidable. In fact, using condoms can reduce the risk of HPV by 70 percent, which is more than Gardasil can claim to do.

The bottom line is that Gardasil is largely ineffective, potentially very dangerous, and a major waste of money. In order to keep your daughter healthy, why not take these simple steps that can prevent HPV and cervical cancer far better than a vaccine ever could:

  • Talk to your kids about HPV. This infection is sexually transmitted, so it is 100 percent preventable through lifestyle choices, including the use of condoms.
  • Keep your immune system strong. A healthy immune system is better able to handle a heavier emotional and physical stress load. The ideal healthy habits to keep your body and mind strong are detailed in these 12 changes that will cut your cancer risk in half.

Keep Educating Yourself on Vaccines

It is becoming increasingly necessary to continue to educate yourself and your family on the issues surrounding vaccinations of all kinds. There are so many problems; no one article can possibly cover them all. You can find and search all vaccine related articles on my Latest Vaccine News page. I also recommend you familiarize yourself with the National Vaccine Information Center (NVIC) web site. As a leader for vaccine safety, the NVIC offers information on everything from laws to informed consent to late-breaking vaccine news.

Natural food remedies fight cold and flu

Natural food remedies fight cold and flu

(NaturalNews) During the holiday season, the cold and lack of sufficient sunlight are enough to weaken the body's natural defenses against cold and flu. Luckily, experts say that consuming specific types of foods might increase our resistance to colds and seasonal pathogens. These cold fighting foods are rich in minerals, vitamins and phytochemicals that help repel invading microorganisms, strengthen our immune response, and reduce inflammation and cold associated symptoms.

Consuming raw, vegan foods (such as sesame and mustard seeds, celery, beans, almonds, cashews, whole grains, pumpkin and sunflower seeds and cocoa powder) may work wonders on human immunity due to their high zinc content. Zinc is an essential trace element for humans and needed in over 300 enzymatic reactions in the body.

With powerful antibacterial, anti-fungal and immune-supportive properties, it is a perfect ally against seasonal illnesses. Zinc has been shown to speed up recovery by supporting healing and enabling the production of virus-fighting white blood cells. A recent clinical trial that tested the relation between zinc and common cold viruses showed that zinc has the ability to effectively inhibit virus development and reduce the duration of cold symptoms.

Vitamin D is famed for being vital in maintaining bone health and promoting calcium absorption. Also known as the "sunshine vitamin", vitamin D is unique in the human body in that we can produce it naturally when we are exposed to sunlight. Less popular are vitamin D's potential benefits in the prevention and treatment of colds and flu. A study published in 2009 in the Archives of Internal Medicine found that there may be a definite link between vitamin D levels and cold resistance.

Scientists looked at data from 18,883 people to discover that those who had the highest vitamin D levels were the least likely to develop cold symptoms. Conversely, study participants with a long history of respiratory infections also had the lowest vitamin D levels. This vital nutrient is rather difficult to obtain from food, but luckily it can be found in mushrooms such as shiitake and portabella.

Herbs used in traditional medicine as immunity-boosters can also work as natural cold remedies. Astragalus is a traditional herbal remedy of Chinese origin that works as a tonic for the body by enhancing metabolism and improving digestion.

A report published in the prestigious Journal of Ethnopharmacology reveals that astragalus has "immunomodulating and immunorestorative effects". Astragalus promotes the production of a type of immune cells called macrophages, whose role is to engulf and digest pathogens, including cold and flu viruses.

Dried astragalus root can be hydrated in warm water to produce the base for a medicinal soup. Enhance the soup with various vegetables like kale, spring onions and quinoa, and you will obtain an excellent flu remedy that makes chicken soup pale in comparison!

Echinacea is an herb commonly used in infusions that boost immunity and relieve pain. A 2007 study conducted at the University of Connecticut concluded that Echinacea can reduce the chances of catching a cold by over 50%, as well as shorten the duration of cold symptoms to an average of merely 1.4 days.

A review of 13 studies published by the University of Maryland revealed that Echinacea can significantly shorten the duration of colds when taken immediately after the onset of the symptoms. While infusions help, to reap all the benefits of the herb, Echinacea should be consumed either as a tincture made from its leaves or added to green salads and soups.

How cordless phones, wi-fi and other forms of high-frequency electromagnetic radiation cause cancer

How cordless phones, wi-fi and other forms of high-frequency electromagnetic radiation cause cancer

(NaturalNews) Many people are aware that prolonged cell phone use has been associated with brain cancer, but most don't realize how other sources of high-frequency electromagnetic radiation (EMR) also radically increase cancer risk.

Until recently, EMR has been given scant attention. It's a toxin that can't be seen or often felt; flawed telecommunication industry-sponsored studies have revealed that current EMR exposure levels are safe, so it has been mostly ignored in medicine. Furthermore, the US government, which receives massive tax revenue from telecom industries, has established faulty guidelines for EMR exposure. It has deemed safe levels to be thousands of times higher than what disinterested scientists have proven as safe. Indeed, studies from such scientists reveal that current amounts of EMR from telecom towers and antennas radically alter the body's cellular communications' processes, leading to cancer and other diseases. These scientists believe that the dramatic increase in cancer in recent years has been due in part to the growing prevalence of EMR in our environment. And the amount of radiation that we are exposed to doubles yearly.

New telecom towers are constructed every day.
Average city-dwellers have anywhere between 30-100 microwave towers/antennas within a four-mile radius of their home. All of these towers emit high-frequency electromagnetic fields that have been linked to cancer development. For example, one Germany study reported that living within 1300 feet of two microwave towers over ten years triples cancer risk. Other studies in Australia, UK and Italy revealed significant increases in leukemia among people who live near such towers. Many other similar findings have been reported.

EMR outside the home isn't the only type of high-frequency radiation we are exposed to. Wi-Fi routers, baby monitors, and cordless phones emit high-frequency radiation that has also been linked to cancer. When in use, cordless phones emit an amount of radiation similar to that of a cell phone. (One study revealed that thirty minutes of daily cell phone use, over ten years, increases the risk of brain cancer by 140%). Wi-Fi routers are similarly dangerous. G. Blackwell, PhD, Chartered Engineer and advisor to WiredChild, states, "Having a digital wireless device in your home, office, or school is like having a mini-base station (cell tower) indoors with you." And with Wi-Max (Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access) now being implemented across the globe, entire regions will be blanketed in cancer-causing high-frequency electromagnetic radiation.

How to Avoid Dangerous EMR

While avoiding all EMR is impossible, the risk for radiation exposure can be decreased by taking the following measures:

1) Eliminating Wi-Fi in the home and using instead a hard-wired broadband connection.

2) Replacing cordless phones (which give off dangerous levels of radiation even when not in use, because their base is constantly looking for a signal), with a hard-wired phone.

3) Reducing/eliminating cell phone use. Using the speaker phone option on the phone slightly reduces EMR exposure. Blue tooth devices and headsets do not protect the brain from EMR, contrary to popular belief.

4) Draping a Faraday cage over the bed. This is a silver-lined mosquito net that filters out 99% of high-frequency EMR.

5) Considering purchasing scientifically-proven EMR protective devices for the home and body, such as EMR-protective clothing for the body and shielding paint for the home.

Doing these things can significantly reduce cancer risk from sources of high-frequency electromagnetic radiation.
